Recruitment
Dear PNM, Choosing whether to go through sorority recruitment at MIT can feel like a big decision — especially at a place where there are already so many incredible opportunities pulling at your time and energy. I remember feeling unsure myself, wondering whether recruitment would really add something meaningful to my experience here. Looking back now, I can say without hesitation that going through recruitment was one of the most grounding and rewarding choices I’ve made at MIT. Recruitment is about much more than joining an organization; it’s a chance to pause, reflect on what you value, and meet people who are also searching for connection, growth, and community in a demanding environment. Through recruitment, I found a community that pushed me, gave me opportunities to give back, and made MIT feel like home in ways I didn’t expect. I’ve been inspired daily by women who are brilliant, kind, driven, and deeply supportive of one another. The right community won’t need to convince you; it will feel steady, supportive, and empowering. No matter where your journey leads, going through recruitment opens doors to connection, leadership, and belonging that are uniquely special at MIT. I hope you give yourself the opportunity to explore it fully. Wishing you an exciting start to your MIT experience. -Lillian Poag, Vice President of Recruitment
