About Us
Pi Beta Phi was founded on April 28, 1867 at Monmouth College in Illinois as the first national secret college organization for women modeled after men’s Greek-letter fraternities. Today, Pi Beta Phi includes more than 130 chapters across North America, united by shared values and a commitment to lifelong sisterhood. Founded in 2008, the Massachusetts Gamma chapter of Pi Beta Phi brings together a close-knit community of women at MIT who value connection, leadership, and purpose. As one of the newer chapters of Pi Beta Phi, Massachusetts Gamma blends the strength of a historic national organization with the energy, innovation, and ambition that define MIT. A cornerstone of Pi Beta Phi is our dedication to literacy. Through our national philanthropy, we work to promote reading, education, and access to learning opportunities for children and communities. At Massachusetts Gamma, we are proud to support this mission while building meaningful friendships and making a lasting impact — on campus and beyond.
